Jennifer is a native Floridian, but her travels have taken her around the nation and back. Originally from Tampa, she and her family moved to Alabama when she was a child, then on to central Illinois, where she lived for 14 years in Bloomington. Illinois is also where she attended beauty school at the Midwest College of Cosmetology located in Normal Illinois; she graduated in 2001, and went right to work.
It is always interesting to hear from any stylist about their “ah-ha moment” when they decided to pursue hair and beauty as a profession. For Jennifer this came at the hands of her stepmother, who happened to be a salon owner. Her first ever salon appointment at age 14 for a cut and color was all it took. “The atmosphere was so fun, it just seemed like a great place and industry to be involved”.
As a working stylist, Jennifer has spent time in Illinois and Florida, working both in Orlando and the Daytona Beach areas. She chose to join Idéologie to continue the evolution of her career with a great team and support system. When not in the salon, she enjoys spending time with her young daughter, going to football games, working out, and doing anything athletic with family and friends.
When asked how her technique is differentiated from other stylist, her answer is straightforward; If a client leaves the salon happy, and happy with their self, they will feel good about themselves. “I love helping people to look better, which makes them feel better. The best version of yourself is always when you feel good about yourself.” She often hears tales about stylists not having true and genuine concern about the client’s end result. “So many stylists simply do not listen to the client, and do not do what is asked of them. Clients have a fairly clear goal for the most part, and it is your job to guide them to that goal. You may suggest a different goal, but you don’t change the goal from the onset of the consultation!”
Jennifer’s motto; “Be “YOU” unapologetically”
